You probably heard about the guy in Florida who shot and killed two cops the other day (one being a K-9 officer) and seriously wounded another cop, resulting in a massive manhunt that led to the gunman’s death by a SWAT team. They fired 110 shots, hitting the accused cop-killer 68 times.
However, here is a chilling quote by the Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy: "That’s all the bullets we had, or we would have shot him more."
That statement should be taken as an alarming situation for the men and women we employ to protect our citizens: it’s a sad day when a SWAT team has to share 110 bullets between them. What happens if they suddenly got called to another emergency? Beat the next perp with a stick?
SWAT teams are well-armed, but without the bullets, what good are the weapons?
